In the healthcare industry, professionals are finding that knees are surpassing hips as serious health challenges. If you are experiencing knee pain, there are several things you can do to slow the situation down, if not entirely turn it around. Here’s what you need to know about chiropractic care and knee pain.
Take On Knee Pain
The first step you should take in tackling knee pain is scheduling an appointment here at Williamsburg Chiropractic. Our team is dedicated to providing the best care possible in all aspects of life, including knee pain! Many think that chiropractors are limited to treating only neck and back pain, but that is simply not true.
As chiropractors, we use spinal adjustments to correct any misalignments in your spine that can negatively impact the rest of your body. During your consultation, we will be better able to determine the root of the issue that is causing your knee pain. Our goal is to not only provide pain relief, but to restore normal movement so you can get back to enjoying the activities you love, all while avoiding the risks of surgery and side effects of medication.
Along with adjustments, there are some steps you can take on your own to help protect your knees and keep you active.
Wear the Right Shoes – Make sure your shoes have the support you need. If you must wear high heels, keep the height to two inches or lower and consider wearing them for that event only. Try to avoid shoes that don’t offer support, or wear inserts with them.
Shed Those Extra Pounds – Did you know that each extra pound of weight that you are carrying is equal to four pounds of pressure on your knee? If you lose 10 pounds, you will subtract 40 pounds of pressure on your knees! Subtracting pounds will make it easier to stay active and can help ease knee pain, along with being healthier overall.
Eat Healthy – Fill your plate with fruits and veggies! For protein, add more fish like salmon to your diet. You can also add foods that are natural anti-inflammatories to help with your knee pain, such as ginger, cinnamon, and garlic.
We know that fighting knee pain is tough, but the team here at Williamsburg Chiropractic can help you find the relief you are looking for. Click here to learn more about knee pain and contact us to schedule your next adjustment!
