What to Do In a Car Accident

Car accidents are bound to happen, especially driving in New York traffic! Fortunately they are usually not serious. However, even a minor car accident can lead to a major problem with lasting side effects. Whiplash, back pain, neck pain, and shoulder pain are all side effects of car accidents. And if left untreated, can lead to chronic conditions that leave you in pain for years. So if you do get in a car accident, here's a few suggestions:

Drive Safely

Avoiding a car accident altogether would be ideal. So keep distractions at a minimum when you're behind the wheel. For example, if you're feeling tired pull over and grab a coffee before pressing on!

Be Prepared to Heal

The healthier you are going into a car accident, the better off you'll be afterward. If your body is strong and flexible it will be that much easier for you to recover from most car accidents. This is not a suggestion to plan for a car accident, but a suggestion to be in the best shape possible to handle any situation.

Go From The Accident to a Chiropractor

If you experience a serious injury, obviously go to the hospital! However, as soon as possible get to a chiropractor. You may have underlying muscle tension that if left untreated could turn into a chronic issue. Your spine will most likely become subluaxted (misaligned) as a result of the car accident, which again can lead to a chronic issue if left untreated.
