As 2019 comes to a start, conversations about life changes, improvements, and goal-setting can be heard just about everywhere. A new year feels like a fresh start for many, and it is the perfect time to take the opportunity to rid yourself of some bad habits and set up new routines to help you improve socially, intellectually, emotionally, and physically.

Despite our best efforts, there inevitably seems to be something that just gets in the way of our resolutions. Sometimes that does away with the feeling of a “new year, new you”. We’ve come up with a few tricks to help you stick to reaching your goals for 2019, so you can accomplish more than you imagined!

Keep It Real

If you are looking for a surefire way to set you back fast, shoot for a goal that is highly unlikely to achieve. Looking to lose 50 pounds in the next two months? Probably not going to happen, as that is an extreme change for the body. A more realistic goal would be to follow a well-planned diet and exercise routine for a healthier body.

Get To Planning

Planning is important when it comes to accomplishing any project. Do you have a big presentation at the office? You plan for it. Throwing a dinner party for 25 guests? You plan for it. The same goes for your resolutions. If you start working toward these goals without any type of plan in place, you’ll quickly find yourself giving up when you face any resistance, difficulty, or obstacle. Write down your goals. See them and believe in them. You might even want to write down a few challenges you expect to face along the way and how to overcome them. By knowing what it is you want to accomplish and the difficulties you might face, you will be better able to stick to your resolution and overcome those struggles. Stay honest with yourself, plan through the year, and mark off each accomplishment as you go.

While positive changes are great, taking on too many changes too fast can lead to negative reactions, injuries, and emotional obstacles.
