1. Your Balance

Proper balance is essential to proper posture. Pay attention to your posture while standing. Is your weight evenly distributed? Or is one leg bearing more weight than the other one? Are you standing with your legs crossed (moving your hips out of balance)? If you are unbalanced in your posture your muscles and spine will attempt to compensate for this. Pay attention to your posture while you are standing and sitting and make sure your pelvis is aligned. In addition, seek regular chiropractic care to assure proper balance.

2. Your Alignment

Your balance and your alignment go hand in hand. To be well balanced, you need to have proper alignment. Whether you are sitting or standing your head should be looking straight, your shoulders should be back, and your hips and knees should be straight. In my office, I am constantly seeing patients with what is called a forward head tilt and hunched shoulders. Forward head tilt is caused by the constant use of computers and cell phones.
